He would marry her if she had a hundred uneducated relations who didn’t save. He might as well make that known. “It seems there is nothing for it, then. I will marry her.”

Her husband, Elizabeth concluded, was a reserved, possibly even shy man, his indifferent façade carefully crafted to mask that.
