He’s always watching me. Even when we were little, I would catch him staring. Studying. I always wanted to know what he was thinking. If he was as fascinated with me as I’ve always been with him.
He’s beautiful like this. He’d hate me for using the word, but it’s true.
“I think you want a guy who pushes you. A guy who eggs you on. A guy who doesn't let you barrel over him. Someone who looks at you like an equal. Someone who challenges you.”
The boy who let me steal cinnamon bears from his bedroom and would let me watch movies with him. The boy who won me over so many times, I’ve lost count while hating how much I’d look forward to every single moment he’d grace me with.
But I don’t pull away. Don’t twist it back. Not when he’s looking at me like this. Without reservations. Without any hesitation. Simply…everything a girl dreams about.
“Because from my perspective? All I’ve ever been is the girl you took for granted, so why should I start taking your feelings seriously now?”
Me: I’m not sure if you’ve been hit in the head one too many times, but I’m not your girl. Theo: You’ve always been my girl. Sorry it took me so long to see it.
“Because I liked you, Blake. Even back then, you managed to get under my skin in a way no one has. Ever.”
I smile. “I believe you were the one who pointed out you don’t sleep with women,” I remind him. He chuckles and kisses my fingers again. “You’re always the exception, Blake. Always.”
