FACING THE TRUTH Truth lies within the past Same as in the present Look to either side it’s there as well Think to yesterday and you’ll find The truth is there It’s easy to see Face what’s to come Understand what you left behind Don’t deny what is Or what could have been The truth hurts But it also heals Facing the truth is all you need ~E.C. “I’m going to make it so they can’t, sugar,” I declare, planting my hands on my hips ready to face off with her. More times than I can count, I simply let her walk away from me, and that ain’t flying anymore.  “How about you explain how you intend to do this? What if I refuse to go with what you want?” She huffs and reaches down to pick up my discarded shirt.

“Yeah, baby. See the way I figure it. I’ll not only get you finally locked down to me, but your folks can’t do shit if we’re married.”

Moving to her, I slide a hand up her side, trailing along her curves until I get to her chin and grip her there. “We can and we will, sugar. I won’t lose you because of them. So, buckle in,

“This can’t be happening,” I mutter to myself as Daemon pulls into his driveway.  Diablo and Beast in the backseat having shoved everything I’d packed up in the very back making it where none of us could see out the back window. It took two days of them all being in South Carolina, one of them being spending the day enjoying the beach. It was during this time Daemon found an alcove and fucked me in the sand.

I don’t know why I’m fighting this so much when, in all honesty, it’s what I want more than anything. Maybe it’s because I don’t want anything to happen to those who mean something to me.  I lost enough as it is, and I don’t know how to even talk to them about it.

“You have got to be kidding me,” Daemon remarks, getting my attention from where I’m working on the suspension on my Tahoe. “Tell me I didn’t marry a woman who is gonna take the fun out of working on shit for her.” I giggle and shake my head. “What? I’m just adjusting the suspension and torquing the torsion bar slightly . . .” “Fuck,” he grumbles, moving to stand at my side and pulling me to my feet. “Hearing you talk about shit like this is getting my dick hard.” From the way he presses against me, I know he’s not lying.

The look on the Daemon’s face when I blurted out about being pregnant will forever be seared in the back of my mind. It was one of shock. joy, and sorrow all in one. He didn’t get a chance to respond since Hendrik came in the kitchen and all but dragged us out to his dad’s truck. This doesn’t mean Daemon didn’t react. He’s kept me close. At dinner, his arm stayed around me the whole time. It was sweet but scared me all at once because I didn’t know if this was how things were supposed to be.

I nod at the same time a gun going off in the distance can be heard. “Fuck,” I snarl and take off in a sprint, praying like hell that Everleigh is okay. She’s got to be.

Backing away from my mother, I keep my gaze locked on her and the two men in the room. “You have me here, so you can let him and Carl go now.” “In good time,” my uncle speaks up, his eyes drifting from me to Carl, “Carl needs to atone for his and his wife’s mistakes.”  “What mistakes would those be?” I demand, stopping my backward steps when I notice another couple around their age coming up from behind them.

Regardless, I’ll do what’s needed to keep anything else coming our way from touching my woman. I think the only good thing out this bullshit is that my woman now has Everett in her life. The club took the little family in under our protection and set them up in a new place where they can’t be easily found.

Not without a fight. But I know my brother, and he’s not one for letting anything slip through his grasp.
