It was only as Iliopoulos passed the metal detectors that he noticed four police officers wearing stab vests waiting at the edge of the lobby. They were from the City of London Police. “Mr. Iliopoulos?” the tallest of them said. “I’m arresting you for conspiracy to commit fraud.” The shipowner looked surprised, but offered no resistance as they led him outside, toward an unmarked blue sedan. Veale and Conner, who suspected the arrest was coming, had been waiting on a street corner to get an unobstructed view.
