Edward Lloyd recognized the importance of reliable information and realized that if he provided his customers with the latest maritime news, they would have more reason to stay on the premises. That insight led him to create a journal called Lloyd’s List to record the comings and goings of ships. It’s still published today, making it one of the world’s oldest continuously running periodicals.
