“Oh, sure. Let’s just pop my egg and your sperm into the oven. Should be ready in thirty.”

As I sit next to Liam in one of our planning meetings, I think of all the ways I could kill him. Strangulation. Stabbing. Pushing him in front of the train. Poison.

A train would probably be the most effective.

“Let’s fucking knock you up.” I grin, my stomach swooping with how happy he looks. “Really?” He finishes his coffee and sets it down. “Hell yeah.” He cocks his head. “Call your doctor tomorrow.” “Why?” I ask, my hands shaking slightly. “Because she’s going to take your IUD out… or we will.”

Bruh.

“A phoenix, for the princess who rose from the ashes. Long may she reign.”

Damon reaches for my first suitcase. “Is it going to cry if I pick it up?” he asks, giving me a wry smile. I know he’s about to tease me, because he has a mischievous gleam in his eyes. “What?” I ask, putting my hands on my hips. “From all of the emotional baggage.” Silas and Jude snort, while I glare at Damon. “Ha ha ha.”

He shakes his head. “I just need to know if you like peanut butter,” he quips. I look at Silas and Damon, who seem just as perplexed. “What?” “Because this suitcase is jam-packed.”

“Princess,” Damon growls, taking my hand. “You could be naked and covered in dirt, and I’d still think you were the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen.”

Damon sighs. “Why don’t we just… make vows?” “Sure, let me pull my vows out of my ass,” Silas counters, rolling his eyes.

“Wherever you get pulled to, we’ll follow you. If that rug slips out from under you, we’ll catch you. I promise you. Always and forever, princess.”

Looking at Lennon, I see the determined look on her face. Her cheeks are tear-stained, and her hair's a mess–probably from fighting off Liam and Yuri by herself this morning. Her fists are opening and closing at her sides, and she looks resolute. Like a fucking Queen watching someone burn her kingdom down. A savage ruler, ready to fight for what’s hers. Ready to fight for the future.

“The father?” the nurse asks as she gets me settled on a hospital bed. I smile. “One of them.” To my surprise, she laughs. “Oh, I read romance novels about people like you all the time. I’m jealous,” she adds, her voice low enough for only me to hear.
