“You look good, Shutterbug. Really damn good.”
“For the record, your mom isn’t the only one who missed you, Shutterbug. I’ve missed you too.”
“This”—he points at his now soft dick—“is all your fault. Which one of you is going to suck me off so I don’t get blue balls?”
Who knows? This could be your second chance.”
“That boy… David… he hurt her, and I imagine her wall will be really high, but I have no doubt you’ll be able to knock it down.” She winks playfully. “And once you do, I bet your love will be just as beautiful.”
“I’ll see you when I wake up, and we can come up with a plan of attack to tear down that wall and woo the hell out of your woman.”
“It won’t be today or tomorrow or the next day, but eventually, your heart will heal.”
“You want to stay in New York, and you need us to agree.”
“Camden never had his shot. When shit went down”—he swallows thickly—“he got on that plane for us. Now, regardless of how much we hate this city, it’s our turn to stay for him.”
“This time, get the fucking girl. Don’t make us being here a waste.”
“Holy shit,” I breathe when I see the single word that’s scribbled across the front of the camera, where the brand name should go. “You got a tattoo of the song I wrote about you.”
You’ve got this, Shutterbug, and we all have your back.”
“It says absolutely nothing about you and everything about them.”
“And this tattoo? It’s the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen.”
“We were supposed to come up with a plan of attack.” “For what?” “To break down your wall and get you to fall in love with me.”
“I let you go once, but I can’t do it again without telling you how I feel. I’m in love with you.
“You don’t need to know anything right now except that I’ll be waiting for you to be ready, and once you are, I want my chance with you.”
“Oh, Shutterbug, you can have way more than that.” “Oh, yeah?” I play along. “Like what?” “Me,” he says, using my hand to tug me toward him. “You can have me.”
“I’m thankful for opportunities I never thought possible.”
And if I couldn’t keep them satisfied and only wanting me, how the hell would I ever keep a man like Camden satisfied? He’s a rock star, for God’s sake. He has beautiful women throwing themselves at him every damn day. What do I possibly have to offer him that he can’t get from all those other women?”
“I don’t know all that went on in your marriage, but what I do know is that I’d give anything to be able to come home to you every day.
“If I had you, I know I’d never look outside. Them fucking blinds would stay closed.” He smirks, and I find myself laughing. “You’re beautiful and smart and sexy as fuck, and if I’m ever lucky enough to get you inside my four walls, I will prove to you every damn day that you’re all I see… all I want. That there’s nothing worth looking outside for.
I did what I had to at the time for Gage and Brax, and even myself, but I still fucked up. And to be given a second chance… I won’t fuck it up again. Even if it’s only as your friend.”
“But… I wanna stay with you. I don’t want you to be lonely.” Be still my heart.
“I’m going to woo the hell out of you, Layles.”
“I knew you were going to woo me, but this… You’re pulling out all the stops, aren’t you?”
If we don’t end up together, it’s because you don’t want to be with me. And if that’s the case, it is what it is. No matter what you decide, unless you walk away, I’ll never go another five years without talking to you again.”
“If they were written by me, and they’re about love, they’re about you.”
I already knew I wanted her, but by the time we’re climbing back into the helicopter, I can say with certainty that I’m still in love with her.
When she glances over at me with a gorgeous smile splayed across her face, my heart stutters in my chest, and without thinking, I thread my fingers through the back of her hair and pull her to me for a kiss.
“If you want to feel something hard and muscular, you can touch me.”
“Go easy on our boy, yeah? He’s been waiting for you for a long-ass time.”
“I don’t want to take things slow or fast. I just want to be with you and see where it leads. We take it at our pace, do whatever feels right.”
“Hey.” Camden lifts my chin. “I happen to love that tattoo.”
“Our pace… not fast or slow. We do what we want, and tonight, I want to be with you.
“So we do what we want because I want this. I want you.”
“That I can’t believe you’re actually here, naked in my bed.” I reach down and stroke her soft cheek. “I dreamed of this so many times.”
“This isn’t a one-time thing or just two friends reconnecting. I want you in every way that matters. I want all of your days and your nights. Your happiness and your sadness. I want your tears and your laughter. I want your body…and your heart.”
“I’m going to clean you, every part of you, so I can dirty you up all over again.”
“Damn, I thought once you finally got laid, you’d loosen up.”
“Forget them. What I want to focus on is that blow job you were talking about before we were interrupted.”
Being with you… it’s incomparable. I told you before, for a guy, sex is usually just sex, but with you, it’s so much more.
“Hey guys, how would you feel about going to dance class with Felix?”
“You have an entire room of support,” I tell Layla, draping my arm around the back of her chair. “We got this.”
“Every time I look at you, I can’t believe I finally get you all to myself, all the time.”
“Yeah, Layla, next time, make sure the living room fits a Disney-sized Christmas tree.”
“Well, that’s good,” he murmurs. “Because my hope is that you’ll want me for the rest of our lives.”
“Don’t worry, Layles. I’m not proposing… yet. But yes, I want you forever.”
“Bought it today, just for you.”
“He’s not wrong,” I admit. “I can’t help it. I’m in love.”
