“The question is, will you let God give you the strength to climb this mountain? Will you trust him to give you feet like those of the deer?”
God had sent me a friend to accompany me on my high places.
“I wanted you to see it. To have this memory in your heart. To understand what God meant when he promised, Their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more.
“All three of you are right, as it happens. This is a phrase that is repeated in Scripture. Again and again, God reminds us of this truth, because he does not want us to misplace it. The Lord’s steadfast love endures.”
“Endure. A hard word. A grit-your-teeth and bear-the-pain kind of word. A strength-in-the-midst-of-storms word. We think of hardship when we think of endurance.”
“But sometimes, when God whispers endure, he isn’t talking about pain. He is talking about love. His love for you endures.”
“God’s care for you in this captivity endures. The warmth in his voice as he guides you endures. His melting affection as he looks upon you endures. His companionship, his shelter, his provision, his help, his counsel, endure.”
“God wants your hearts to learn to endure, too. Endure in love. Love him even when he seems absent. Love him when he has offended or disappointed you. Love him when you feel he has not protected you.”
“That is why you must learn to endure. Endure in the fire, because God’s love for you endures. Trust in his plans for you, my sons and daughter.”
The near disaster by the river had taught me that life was unpredictable.
But trust me when I tell you that your mistake has not destroyed God’s ability to fulfill his will in your life.”
“The Lord watch over you, Keren.
My daughter, Keren, Let the words of the prophet accompany you on your journey. May they serve as a reminder of our love for you. Cling to God, and let him lead you. Remember, he has not forsaken you, and neither have we. Wherever your journey leads you, know that our God safeguards a future and a hope for you.
“She’s all alone?” “I did not say that.” “Who went with her?” “The Lord, our God.”
“Where do you draw the line for God, Jared? Even if he does not take away this pain? Even if he does not restore your independence, your strength, your health? Will you still choose him, even if? Choose him every day?”
“Lord, I don’t know how to endure this fire. Give me the strength to bear the flames!” Somehow, crying out to God helped. It helped loosen the load of unendurable guilt.
