“I know you don’t like being told what to do, but you could have had it all,” he says, almost wistfully. “You could have had my trust. Now you will become my wife and there won’t be an ounce of trust or love between us.” My heart skips again. “Who said anything about love?” “Hmmph.” He tilts his head, examining me. “I could have loved you, you know.”
around me. “I will never love you, Hanna.” “And if I happen to fall in love with you?” I whisper, knowing that will never happen now. His mouth curls into a contemptuous smile. “Then you have all my pity.”
“This is the oubliette,” he says scornfully. “It’s where I put people to forget about them. I don’t think it will help me with you, but at least you’ll learn your lesson this way. I said I was going to tear your wings right off, little bird. Now you have no way to fly.” Then he lets go of me, snatching the crown off my head at the last minute. I scream. And I fall into the darkness.
“Mortals have the mistaken belief that they move into the future,” he explains. “That is not true at all. The future moves into you. That is how manifesting works. There are an infinite number of futures and possibilities out there for you. Time passes through you, it moves past you. You stay still. Whatever energy you put forward is what will align with a future with that same energy, and that is the future you will attract.”
