He was the only person of Ksar’s acquaintance who managed to become more attractive the angrier he got.
some low-class barbarian on Terra. It seemed unthinkable, but there had been no mistake. He’d seen Harht kiss that Terran, shameless and needy, as if Ksar wasn’t there, as if Harht’s reputation wouldn’t be absolutely destroyed if anyone back home found out about it. What was Harht thinking?
Seyn glared. “You wouldn’t dare do anything to me, you arrogant piece of shit—” Ksar slammed their mouths together.
(wanting to get into his throat and fuck it raw so that this mouthy little shit would feel it for days).
“Newsflash, you little fool: it’s entirely possible to want someone you loathe.” He pushed his erection against Seyn’s, making Seyn shudder and whine. “Or I wouldn’t want an annoying, spoiled little shit like you.”
“I told you: it’s entirely possible to be attracted to someone one dislikes—or I wouldn’t possibly be attracted to a mouthy, disrespectful brat like you.”
“It’s also pointless to act all superior and shit when you’re harder in me than a steel rod.”
you spend a lot of time thinking about sex when you’re around me.” “Get out of my head, you creep,” Seyn spluttered. Ksar’s lips curled. “I wasn’t actually reading your mind, but it’s good to know I’m right.”
Ksar grimaced, looking at the fingernail marks all over his arms and back. “I look like I had a fight with a wild cat,”
“Hate is a powerful feeling, too,” Jamil said. “It’s a passion, too, just on another end of the spectrum. Some say it’s stronger than love, and that if you suddenly lose someone you hated for years, it would leave as big a void as if you lost a loved one.”
“You know,” Jamil said in a very mild voice, “someone who keeps falling on his enemy’s cock really has no room to talk.”
“Start judging me when you figure out how to stop gagging for Ksar’s cock.”
Seyn scoffed at the mere thought. Of course he didn’t consider Ksar perfect. Ksar was an arrogant, infuriating, despicable, horrible person. But he’s my horrible person. Mine.
Did Ksar think he could just casually tell him to come for a fuck and assume Seyn would just run to him like an overeager, lovesick fool? Screw Ksar. He wasn’t that pathetic. * * * Later that night, as he was spread out under Ksar’s heavy, deliciously naked body, Seyn had to admit that apparently he was that pathetic.

“If you didn’t find out about the state of our bond and we got married, that would have meant that I would have had to constantly brainwash you to make you believe that we really had a marriage bond.” He met Seyn’s eyes in the mirror, tying his cravat. “It seems I’m not evil enough to stomach fucking someone who can’t think for himself. A pity.”
As the sound of Seyn’s footsteps receded down the hallway, Ksar’s gaze fell on the invitation on the floor. He picked it
with great power came great responsibility.
Seyn was laughing, his hands covering his face as his shoulders shook with laughter. “Sorry? You know where you can shove your fucking apology?” He lifted his head, glaring at him. “You just have to ruin everything, don’t you? I don’t want to hear your apologies. I don’t want to listen to you saying that I mattered to you. I want to hate you, dammit. Let me have that at least!” He slumped forward, running a hand over his face. “I hate you,” he whispered, his voice wavering. “Don’t take that away from me.”
Seyn looked at him—at his sex-tousled hair, sleepy eyes and the arrogant set of his jaw—and thought, I love you so much.
He’d hate to love
someone but not have them as the person that mattered the most.
So Seyn looked Ksar in the eye and said quietly, “I love you.” Ksar’s mouth twitched, as if he wasn’t sure what to say or how to react to that. But he didn’t need to say anything for Seyn to feel the almost violent rush of foreign happiness and elation mixed with bewilderment and possessiveness.
