People never think it’ll happen to them.

But it is amazing how completely a place changes in the dark:

I understand what it’s like now, how maddening, lying awake in the middle of the night with nothing but your thoughts for company.

Nobody ever stops to wonder what happens in the dead of night, all the things that take place when the world is unconscious.
