Put logic to the side and “jump in”: say something like, “When you go to bed, you have a big worry that I won’t be there in the morning, huh? Ugh, that is such a scary thought . . .” (Pulling out might have sounded like, “Sweetie. There’s nothing to worry about, I have never left without telling you!”)
