“I believe I will be forgotten,” Kallias said. The melancholy notes lacing his tone filled my own chest with sadness. He had that effect on those around him, able to spread woe with a single spoken word. “My story will end, and with the closing of the book, my life will become nothing but a memory that fades more and more as the days pass. I’ll be like the smoke rising from those flames; here one moment and gone the next.”
“I only hope that before I draw my final breath… I get the chance to truly live.”
“Asa Morningstar is no longer a threat to anyone,” Lazarus said, his wintry gaze shifting to Alastair. “He’s not merely weakened. His powers are gone.”
I can’t stop the sun from setting, but I can greet the stars and embrace the night as I wait for the warmth again.”
“Ever been carried like this before?” I asked, walking us down the short hallway toward my room. My titanium arm rested under his ass, and my other was around his back. Raiden flashed that dimple. “Nope. I kinda like it. Makes me feel dainty.” “Dainty?” I snorted. “You better tell me now if you’re a delicate little flower, Raiden.” Reaching the room, I tossed him on the bed. He bounced once on the mattress and looked up at me with excited eyes as I unzipped my pants. “Why?” he asked, his hands going to his own pants and unbuttoning them. “You gonna do dirty and rough things to me?”
“Ray,” Gray’s voice projected into my head. “This is your conscience speaking. And your conscience wants you to make waffles for your adorable little brother.”
Does this mean when we die…” “Our souls will burn,”
“On All Hallows’ Eve, we’ll retrieve Kallias’ soul from the realm of the lost. And he will fight beside you to win this war once and for all.”
“More,” Gluttony said. “Whatcha want, bud? Another Pop-Tart or something different?” “Oatmeal Creme Pie,” he responded. “Three of them.”
