Repentance isn’t something we reach for. Repentance is first a practice of descending with the Good Shepherd to seek and find the stressed, scared, and scorned parts of our souls. Repentance begins in being found by Christ on the bottom of the ladder, in our darkest states of dysregulation, and it is his friendship that regulates us to rise. Day after day, descending with Jesus, we will begin to anticipate being able to climb.
