Brax looked up and I watched as his mouth hung open in surprise. He didn’t leave me wondering what was so shocking when he pointed to my chest. “You Tennessee people are weird.” “What?” “It’s nearly sixty and you’re wearing a sweater under your coat like it’s fifteen! Snow’s forecast next week in Boston.” “And that’s why I don’t live in Boston.” I went to the fridge to grab a bottle of water. “What time did you get back? I never heard you come in.” “Not surprising. When I got home there was a Trevor-shaped mound of blankets on the couch. Well, I’m hoping it was you. If it wasn’t, we should probably call someone, because there was something sleeping under the blankets.” The anxiety that I’d pushed to the side in my room came back with a vengeance, logic and his words about my being totally covered be damned.
