Easton stopped at my bedroom door. “What? Are you okay? What happened?” A slow grin spread on my face as the news really began to sink in. “Finally got traded.” Easton’s eyes got big as saucers. “Seriously? For real?” All I could do was nod. Easton’s friendship was going to be the one thing I missed about Boston. We’d both been new to the team at the same time. He’d been traded from the West Coast, a few years older than me with more miles under his skates. The two of us had clicked immediately, sharing many of the same interests and both general homebodies. When he’d offered his extra room, I’d jumped on the opportunity and we’d been sharing his condo ever since. As my best friend, he’d been the first person I’d told that I’d requested the trade. We’d also spent many nights commiserating over the lack of progress and trying to figure out when it would be my time. “Holy shit! It’s like your every dream come true.” He rushed me, wrapping his arms around me and enveloping me in a bear hug. “Gah, I can’t wait to visit you.
