“How’s the new roommate situation?” Seth asked when we’d run in silence for a few hundred yards. “Honestly? Not as bad as it could be. He stays pretty much to himself, but it is nice to have someone to chat with after practices.” Seth didn’t need to know that I’d worn more jeans in the house the last couple of days than I’d worn in the last year. At home, I was definitely a shorts or sweatpants guy, not jeans. Maz’s snort from beside Seth made me look over to find him grinning. “Care to share what has you blushing with the class?” I stuck my middle finger up and shook my head. I’d have sprinted ahead, but their legs were both longer than mine and I’d have run out of steam way before them. That would have also defeated the purpose of a relaxing jog. Thankfully, Seth pushed at Maz’s arm. “Behave yourself.” Then he focused back on me. “Ignore my boyfriend. He’s been taking lessons from Austin.” Seth’s twin brother, Austin, was a force of nature and no one ever knew what would come out of his mouth next. “Heaven help us all.” When Seth stopped laughing, I caught him studying me from the corner of my eye. “Are you having enough time for yourself?” I almost tripped over a tree root. He’d spoken vaguely but I wasn’t used to my little side being spoken about at all, much less by a teammate. I kept reminding myself that he was a safe person to talk to and he already knew, but it was going to take some time for my brain to believe that as well.
