The NHS states that a baseline concentration (also known as your fasting level, that is, your glucose level first thing in the morning before eating) between 4.0 and 5.4 mmol/L is ‘normal’; that between 5.5 and 6.9 mmol/L indicates prediabetes; and anything above 7.0 mmol/L indicates diabetes.
