I continued breathing and pumping on her chest. I believed I could bring her back. But the tears were blurring my vision and Mom just lay there lifeless. But I pumped harder. Breathed deeper. Hoped harder. I could will her back to life if I just kept trying.
This house was a reminder of those last moments. It was a brutal reality. The best and worst memories of my life lived here.
Tragedy had a way of reminding you how precious life was. Reminding you about what mattered most. About what was most important. Love and family were everything.
