DEDICATION To victims of abuse— You are neither what they say you are nor how they make you feel. You can be what they say you can’t. You can do what they say you can’t. You can’t can.

“Well, your ex was there, and you let go so…” “So she wouldn’t think I’m as helpless as she likes to think I am.”
“I’m sorry,” he breathes, not kissing, but letting his lips brush mine with his words for a beautiful almost-kiss. “I won’t let go next time.”
He’s…touching his lips, the lips that just kissed me, the lips that I just kissed. He’s touching our kiss, and he’s…smiling.
I bring my lips to his chest, over his heart, thanking it for beating for me today.
Olivia—vision reader app. My mother. He named it after my mother. I’m going to have to add crying to the list of ways I’ll probably embarrass him today.
“You taught me how to see. I honestly don’t know why God gave me eyes before you came along, because I didn’t use them for a damn thing until I saw you.”
