I was scaling walls and climbing balconies with that guy, who has the conversation skills of a stone wall.” From the balcony door, Edei gave a wave,
“Or I could go to the Nine,” Io offered, although she’d rather take the butter knife and stab her own eye.
She was doing it again. She was ripping herself at the seams and stuffing her body with shame. But it was never hers, was it?
“An entire line of other-born . . .” Io choked. An entire line, dead. Not just a slaughter. A genocide.
