“That sounds dangerous…” Lance fidgeted. “Wouldn’t it be better to handle this before he—” “They,” Xiang corrected. “I’m too prehistoric for genders.” There was a long pause while Lance tried to decipher Xiang’s tone. “I can’t tell if you’re joking.” “I’m not. You can use ‘your majesty’ if ‘they’ is too complicated.”
“You’ll stay with me tonight.” “Think that’s called kidnapping,” Xiang deadpanned. “Hard pass.”
It didn’t matter that I only reached their thighs, nor that I only weighed about forty pounds; I would destroy them. I readied my claws, eager to slash at anyone who dared approach.
Lance was a bundle of poof and rage,
“There’s also mention of a large, feathered creature that caused issues with some of the men.” “That was me,” I said quickly. “I shifted and—” “No,” Montana cut me off, shooting me a stony look. “They called you a small, rabid goose.”
Xiang tensed as Ruben growled, swallowing audibly. “This isn’t helping as much as you think. Now I’m scared and turned on.”
“They said there was a mutated turkey that they tried to hit with a hammer,” he supplied. “Turkey?!” I balked. “It was a dinosaur! A fierce predator, might I add, with two large foot claws and no empathy for criminals.”
