An army divided is easier to control.
“Sometimes, steering clear of trouble doesn’t keep you safe. Pebbles by the side of a path still get trodden by careless feet, and idle words carry too much weight when whispered into the wrong ears.”
Perhaps all such unions were doomed to tragedy, for what future could a mortal and immortal have when death divided them?
“I am not a coward, just not a fool.”
But could we truly hate those we had loved before?
To set myself against you, would be akin to going against myself.”
there is no better liar than those convinced they speak the truth.

“Love is worthless,” Wugang sneered. “Fleeting, inconstant, and shifting like the wind. All it yields is sorrow in the end, whether through indifference, betrayal, or spite. Those truly powerful have no need for love—a weakness, as it brought you all down today.”
“Cry. Shout. Strike me if you will. Just don’t treat me like a stranger. Don’t pretend to be all right when you are not.”

Trust, once broken, was impossible to restore; the cracks remained even when glazed anew.
“Hate me then, for I would rather have your hatred than indifference.” His eyes were the shade of wintry rivers, glints of light traveling in their depths. “The past can’t be undone, but my hope lies in our future. Trust me with your heart again and you will find the truth of mine. For you are the reason I rise each day, for you I live and breathe.”
