Boyfriend Goals

“She had a lover?” Gentleman friend was a dumb thing to call someone. Chester sputtered again. People were so odd about sex. On the one hand, lots of fluids were going back and forth, so if you thought about that part of it, I could see where the gross factor came in, but that wasn’t the issue. It was something no one wanted to talk about; they were more comfortable discussing or witnessing violence than sex. I’d read a lot about it.

Tattoo Guy gave me another slow, easy smile. He was very good at those. He must practice them a lot.

“I know that was sarcasm. Do you think you’re very good at it? I’m not an expert, but you don’t seem to be.”

Gideon playfully clutched his chest like I’d just dropped my hat before mortally wounding him. “Ouch. I thought I was funny before I met you. You’ve done nothing but bust my balls.” “Yours are in your chest?” I asked as seriously as I could, but he just rolled his eyes. “Not that I’m aware of, but I’ve heard my brain is in my dick before, so I guess you never know.”

“If you really don’t want me to, I won’t,” he replied, and I might have melted a little. I had no idea that was possible or that it would feel good. Melting insides sounded like a sickness one shouldn’t want.

The words thank you lingered on my tongue, but I struggled to set them free.

When he grinned at me, I wondered what his smile tasted like.

“I look at Gideon all the time, and I don’t notice him wanting to rip my clothes off in the middle of the bookstore. Also, that doesn’t mean he wants to be my boyfriend. It means he enjoys my penis.”

“Gideon stares at you like he’s lucky to even be in your orbit, Milo, like if you leave a room, you’re going to take everything good with you. Like maybe he doesn’t know how he ever survived without you.”

“What am I going to do with you?” “Love me, laugh with me, have sex with me.” “Totally boyfriend goals.”
