Didn’t the British authorities know the fearsome legend of the Pied Piper? The original story dates all the way back to the Middle Ages, to 1300s Germany. Like most legends, it has shifted and morphed through time. But at its heart, “The Pied Piper” is set in a small German town called Hamelin. The children in the story are seduced by the flute of a brightly dressed piper who then leads them to drown in the River Wesser.
