“Thank fuck. Thank you, God.” Tears blurred my vision as I rocked her in my arms.
“Nice grenade, fucker,” he rasped weakly, his eyes barely open. One was nearly swollen shut. “I was impressed.” “Anything to impress you, Vin,” I said.
“You’re going to be OK,” Levin said with a grunt. He took Vin’s face between his hands and made him look at him. “Tell me. Fucking say it to me, Vincent.” “I-I’m go-going to b-be O-OK,” he said, weakly. Levin visibly swallowed. “Right. You come out of this, and I’ll give you anything you want.” “Y-yeah? P-promise?” “I promise.” Levin swept Vincent’s dark hair out of his eyes. “M-maybe we c-could do that one thing w-with B a-again.” Levin licked his lips. “Yeah. We can.” Vincent breathed out, a smile on his lips. “OK. N-no t-takebacks, fucker.”
I stepped forward before Levin could stop me and planted my fist in the center of Tate’s face.
