I am the first woman to serve as governor of South Dakota. While this is deeply significant to me, I do not believe there are “women’s issues” any more than there are “men’s issues.” There are only issues that affect us all as Americans.
There is, however, a woman’s perspective on every single issue. That perspective is essential when we as a country make decisions about our freedom, defense, prosperity, health, and the well-being and happiness of our kids.

There have been legions of books written on the differences between the sexes. There is no end to the amount of debate and analysis one can give to the topic. Here is my simplified summary: men tend to be blessed with this wonderful confidence that allows them to look at every challenge as one more thing to take on and accomplish, while women spend more time in self-reflection and analysis, which leaves them more hesitant to jump into new situations with both feet.
