That fractured sky.
“I don’t want to cause him pain,” she said softly. “You’re not. You’re teaching him that not all hands hurt.”
“This is going to blow everything up.” I met her gaze. “Sometimes, a little destruction is a good thing.”
Because Shiloh was moving in today, and one universe-altering event a day was enough for me.
“That just makes you human. It’s what you do with that fear that counts.”
“I like having you here. I think I needed it just as much as you did.” The truth of those words hit somewhere deep in my chest, burning. But it was a beautiful kind of pain. One I welcomed. One that belonged only to Shiloh.
“But you should know. It seems like where you are now will last forever, but it won’t. Even the worst pain isn’t forever. It passes. Changes. It might come back now and then, but it never lasts forever. All we can do is make the best of where we’re at—finishing
“You’re amazing, you know that? Pure fire.” I looked up into those onyx eyes. “Only for the people who matter.” And I burned the brightest for one person. Him.
“Of course, you do. Ramsey’s hot as hell. He’s got that tortured, broody thing going on. And, he obviously cares about you a great deal.”
“What do you feel for me?” Ramsey’s fingers twined with mine. “I
don’t think there’s a word for it in the English language. But it burns through me. And I don’t want to ever let it go.”
“I could never regret you. Even when it hurts, I want to feel that pain because you make me remember that I’m alive.”
“You should always say thank you for good dick. That spirit of gratitude will only bring more into your life.”
I looked up into those onyx eyes that were the beginning of everything. “And I knew he’d catch me when I fell.”
