Everyone called them his shadows, but they didn’t belong to him. They were the shadows in the surrounding spaces that bent to his will. The very shadows used by the Seraphim to create the realms.
“Because here, you are mine.”
“No, Rory, I’m not lying.”
Because he called her Rory.
His anger was barely leashed when he said, “Who did this to you?” He visually inspected the bruises on her limbs, touching each one with his golden gaze.
“The next time someone lays a finger on you, their death belongs to me.”
Rory was his eternal mate.
She was beautiful, wild, and his.
He hesitated before placing his palm against the smooth skin of her face and watched her realm explode.
“What color is the bowl?” Tears pricked the corners of her eyes as they found the bowl still lying on the ground. “Red.”
“She’s my Aeternum,” Caius said as he slammed open Samyaza’s door. “Did you know?”
Aeternums were born with grey-scale sight, and when they met their destined Royal, they saw them in color. Once they touched, the Aeternum’s grey-scale sight lifted, confirming the bond.
“Her safety matters,” Caius growled. “Do not keep things from me again.” Sam’s voice was hard when he said, “Control your temper, and I won’t.”
“You are good, Rory, and she deserves to know that.”
“If you wanted to see me naked, Miss Raven, all you had to do was
“Jealousy looks good on you, Miss Raven.”
“If you’d stop being a prick to her, she might end up liking you,”
“We both know it was Gedeon,” Sam replied.
He would certainly be sentenced to death when he killed Gedeon.
“Do not treat her like she is beneath you. She is your equal, and while you may not want her, she deserves to be treated as such.”
“I need you to wake up, baby.”
She was supposed to live a full life without him, not die because he foolishly left her alone.
“I’ll miss you enough for both of us,” she whispered in his ear, and he nodded into her shoulder. “I may not remember you,” he whispered back. “But when I see your face or hear your name, my soul will know you’re good.”
Caius remembered thinking it was odd because where he was all dark colors and silver accents like his palace, Gedeon was the golden child, dressed in light colors and gold.
“I would set this entire realm ablaze to keep you safe, and if you think I’m bluffing, you haven’t been paying attention.”
“It was inevitable. Your soul calls to mine and mine to yours. We couldn’t fight this if we tried.”
enjoy seeing you on your knees, Your Grace.”
“Use your words.”
“You’re my Aeternum,” he informed her.
“You were made for me, and I was made for you, whether you like it or not.”
Your souls were created by the Seraphim at the same time, but yours was sent when he needed you most.
Lauren snarled and transformed into a lethal panther
“I knew you weren’t a house cat.”
don’t need ropes in my clothes; only my bedroom.”
was Gedeon’s Aeternum.”
“He murdered his own sister and Aeternum. Cruel does not begin to describe him.”
“I am happy for you, brother. It is good to see you in love.” Caius shrugged him off. “I don’t love her.” Sam looked bemused. “Are you sure about that?” Not anymore.
“You haven’t asked me to marry you,” she said sharply. “To be queen, we must be married.” “Is that what you want?” he asked, folding his napkin. She set herself up. Damnit. “If a proposal is what you want, I will get down on one knee here and now.”
“Most men want to control women.” He pushed his chair back and stood. “If you want to walk through the realm naked, you will do so, and I will admire you the entire way.”
Not that having children was the only way to be happy. But if she had them, she wouldn’t hate it.
Was this what love felt like, this all-consuming need to be with someone?
“I will always come back to you.”
Tallent sighed again. “That would be nice, but unfortunately, you won’t be able to make it.”
Caius’ lips twitched. “Yes, Your Grace.”
she knew she loved him. He had been wrong. She was the first to fall.
