No woman wants a man who treats her like an insignificant ant, not even if he is a king.”
“I would set this entire realm ablaze to keep you safe, and if you think I’m bluffing, you haven’t been paying attention.”
“It was inevitable. Your soul calls to mine and mine to yours. We couldn’t fight this if we tried.”
Nothing scared the Umbra King, but her rejection did.
“I am a book without a story, and you are a story without a book.”
“I suggest you get very good at wining and dining me if you want me to love you.”
“I don’t know you, Caius.” He gave her hand a light squeeze. “You will.”
“Anything for you. Don’t ever forget that. Now, go long.”
She was his girl, and they both knew it.
“Do you shove everything into your mouth with that much enthusiasm?”
“She was Gedeon’s Aeternum.”
“I am happy for you, brother. It is good to see you in love.” Caius shrugged him off. “I don’t love her.” Sam looked bemused. “Are you sure about that?” Not anymore.
Her jaw tensed. “Fine, but if she comes near me, I’ll kill her myself.” Caius’ lips twitched. “I expect nothing less.”
Two were one, and one is yours.’ She means you.” Identical twins, once a single embryo, split in two. “You really are my mate.”
Instinctively, his hand flew to his crotch, and Rory burst out laughing. “You’re so violent,” he tsked.
His mouth lifted when he saw her, and the clothes in his hands dropped to the floor. “Please tell me I don’t need these.”
He had been wrong. She was the first to fall.
It said her contract transferred to him. She would be released tomorrow, and he would serve another five-hundred years.
Then it clicked, and the floor fell out from under her. Her memory would wipe clean, meaning she would forget Vincula, her friends, and him. “Why would you do this?” she repeated, raising her voice. “You said you can’t change contracts.”
Tears slipped from his eyes. “I can’t keep you here in misery. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.”
