Between being the baby of five kids and finding out you were only born to save someone’s life, it would make you view shit a little differently.
Declan and Diesel were twins, with Diesel being the oldest by ten minutes. After them was Demetria, Denim and then me.
Whether he or anyone believed it or not, I really hated talking to him or anyone like that, but he and other people needed to understand that they couldn’t come at me with bullshit neither.
One thing my dad didn’t warn me about was people always needing something. Always.
“Move, boy. Taking up all the hugs.”
“Well, Mr. Dymon, if that is the definition of an executive assistant, then that number on the offer sheet I signed yesterday needs to double, and I need a work phone too because I refuse to have you ordering me around on my personal phone. I
will turn that phone off with the quickness, and you will instantly disappear. Poof.”
“I like her. She had your ass speechless. Read your ass like a book. And you ain’t do shit but look goofy.”
Me: You jumped in my business so fast, you forgot to put a subject.
There was really no reason for me to be this goofy for a chick I’ve only known for a
week. Her family down in that country town must be practicing witchcraft in the back of those B&B’s because I was truly disgusted at myself.
“Fuck outta here. Nah. He just trying to fish for some shit. See, now I dare him to even fucking blow a kiss at her, and I’mma let his ass go. He hug her too long, he outta there. Look at her too long, he gone. Nigga trying to watch me. Think he knows what I’m doing.”
Now you about to make this nigga put himself in a competition with somebody who don’t even know they in it.”
“Don’t you ever in your fucking life tell a nigga you sorry for turning him down. Do you understand me?”
“Ooou, is Grandpa about to whoop them?”
“Okay. Oh, and, Mr. Dymon...” He looked at me. “Don’t ever let a bitch disrespect me again.”
Maybe I should make his ass sign one. Yes, that’s what I’ll do…
“Denim, will you send a ladder down once I hit the bottom?”
“I will. And so do I, but I am going to enjoy it all the way down.” “Of course. Your last name wouldn’t be Danger if you didn’t.”
“I love you, Quinci,” he whispered in my ear.
“Please, don’t leave me.”
“To show our babies, once they grown, how crazy I had their mom looking after dropping dick in her.”
“That boy finally whooped your ass for fucking with his girl,” he spoke, chuckling. “Now, you of all people know that’s not true. You good, though?”
“Well, since we are going to be living in New York, I might have to apologize to…” She sighed in annoyance. “I’m going to have to apologize to Cruella De Vil and Scar for disrespecting them in their home.”
