“Would you do me the extreme honor of telling me why you suddenly want to drop your panties?”
“Relax, Loren. I’m only teasing you. I promise I won’t bite—unless, of course, you want me to.”
“Maybe I should teach you a lesson for talking back to me and spank your little ass.”
A smile flirted with the slayer’s mouth. If he kept looking at her like that, she might just fall in love with him.
Call him crazy, but there was a part of him that felt like their fates were entwined now, and they were both in far too deep to ever turn back.
“I don’t think I can do this. I’m going to get into a fight with the first guy who looks at her.”
He didn’t care how many enemies he made in his efforts to keep her safe. He would always protect her—no matter the cost.
It was a step up from what he was used to, he had to admit. He had to start doing better. For Loren, he would do better.
“That avenue means a lot to you, so I thought you should bring it with you wherever you go.”

“Even if we don’t have forever, we do have today. And I believe that alone is worth celebrating.”
