The La Brea Tar Pits
I love this place. A large tar pit was the only active dig site, the last time I visited. And it was only open for about 6 wks in the summer.
We were there in November.
I didn't care. La Brea Woman no longer stands guard at the entrance, her bones revealed in a flash of lightning. She terrified me as a child. It felt like a rite of passage when I was finally able to look her in her eyes. I miss her.
