“Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” -Roald Dahl
The universe had different plans for the boy who refused to grow up.
I lifted out the gilded acorn locket that had been my mother’s, and her mother’s before that, and on and on, for more than a hundred years. I popped the delicate clasp and looked for the inscription that I knew was inside, ‘To die will be an awfully big adventure.’
“Don’t you know that nothing lasts forever, no matter how hard you wish it to be so?”
“Shall I cross the veil and kill him for you?” his face was absolutely serious, “Then we can forget all about him.”
“You look like a Lost Boys’ wet dream.” He licked his lips, “I still prefer you naked.”
I thought I heard Ryder’s soft voice whisper, “We have time. I won’t rush things with you. I plan to draw this out. Savor every step along the way… then maybe you’ll stay.”
If I allowed myself to feel something for them, what price would I pay when it was finally time to leave?
“You’ve been biting that lip all day and now it’s my turn for a taste,” he said, his voice husky.
“You want to know what my intentions are? I’m not really sure I can answer that just yet…” he sighed. “But, I’ll admit that I can’t explain what it is that I feel for you. I enjoy your company more than I should. I look forward to seeing you when you’re not with me. Actually, you fill my every thought when you’re not with me. You’re beautiful and sexy. I can’t stop thinking about that kiss, and every way I want to take you, every way I want to make you scream my name. It’s infuriating and exciting all at the same time.”
“I want you. I don’t care anymore if you break me when you leave. I’d rather be a broken man who took his chance at real love rather than a foolish man that turned his back on it.”
“I know I’ve made a complete mess of things, but not anymore. I’ll take whatever you want to give me, in whatever time we have left, and that will have to suffice. I’ll have to find the strength to hold it together until the end of eternity. Maybe we could meet there, in the end, and pick up where we left off.”
“Gwen, I know I can’t keep you,” he said slowly, his voice husky and low, “but in this moment, you are mine.”
“True evil is always alluring. To quote Shakespeare ‘The Devil hath power, to assume a pleasing shape.’ Don’t be fooled by his appearance, Gwen. Hook is dangerous, and you would be wise to remember that.”
“Without fucking Neverland dies,” Eben interrupted. “At least that’s what the fae tell us.”
“You are perfect in every way. Let me worship at your temple.”
“You are divine, Gwen. My goddess, and I will worship you for all eternity.”
“Just a bit of warning” —she whispered in my ear as she embraced me— “beautiful things in Neverland aren’t always what they seem. A beautiful exterior can harbor some of the darkest intentions,”
“But I think it’s only fitting for a daughter of Wendy to be Queen of the Lost Boys.”
“Well yes, but I wanted you to be mine—” He looked down at his hands for a moment and then glanced over his shoulders at his Lost Boys standing behind him. “I wanted you to be ours tonight, and everything that goes along with that,”
“I’ve claimed your mouth already, and now I want to bury myself in that sweet little pussy of yours.”
“Look at me, Gwen. I want to see the pleasure in your eyes,”
“Trust me Hen, you’re going to need some stamina. We’re just getting started.”
“Come back to me in one piece… because my heart can’t take it if you don’t.”
“We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.” He quoted H.P. Lovecraft and it could not have been more appropriate.
“What about your boys?” Hook snarled, obviously irritated by my hesitation. “They left you for dead. Aren’t you tired of playing with boys?” His voice softened as his lips grazed my ear. “Let me show you what a man can offer you.”
“You taste like sin, and I will have more.”
“It’s not too late.” He lifted my chin with his hand. “Sail with me. Together we could rule all of Neverland. Queen of the Lost Boys. HA! I'll make you Queen of the Pirates. We’ll spend our days seeking pleasure in all its forms.”
“For what it’s worth, love makes you do some irrational, fucked up shit. That’s true even for Peter and his Lost Boys.”
“You know, you deserve to be happy. It’s alright to let yourself be happy. Seems like you started to be in Neverland, but you got in your own way. I have my path and I’ve accepted that. Now you need to follow your heart. You have to find a way to go back.”
“I understand that I have given everything to Neverland and now her Council has betrayed me.”
