“I like the way you hurt me, little bird.” My entire body lit on fire. It always happened when he was around. Ever since we’d bonded, I couldn’t get enough of him. “Damien.” “I love it when you say my name,” he purred.
“Kian, you’re my mate too.” I placed my hand on his arm, and he froze.
She would soon be my mate, and I had to protect her. To do that properly, I had to get out of my head.
“Even if we’re only potential mates right now. The bond will snap into place when it’s time.” I loved the sound of them being mine.
“We won’t let anyone touch us but you,” Rhett said softly.
“Get back to pleasing our mate,” Damien rumbled. “Or I’ll take over.” “Fuck that,” Alister snarled before his tongue flicked over my sensitive spot again and again.
“He stole another pair.” Alister gripped my chin in between his index finger and thumb. “How many has the demon stolen?” “That would make five,” I grumbled, with my cheeks burning. I really needed to go buy more.
“Don’t stare at her,” he muttered. “Be respectful.” I gasped, turning my head to look at him. It was an effort not to glance up at our mate. “I was staring with the maximum amount of respect!”
“If we’re going to be mates, I don’t have to hide myself from you, right?” Kian choked on his spit and launched himself into a coughing spree, and I just nodded my head about a thousand times.
I groaned, tilting my head back and tucking myself into my waistband. “She’s so fucking hot when she runs.” “Werewolves and their need to hunt their prey,” Kian muttered as he walked in the direction she went.
“Do you know what I really need?” he growled in my ear. “A break from work.” He flipped me over and settled between my legs. His girth strained against his pants and filled the space between my legs as he pushed his body against mine. “Only if that break includes being inside of my mate.”
“I’d do anything for you. I’d even reanimate for you, and you know how I feel about that.”
“To set the record straight,” Damien started with glee in his tone. “Wren’s mine. She’s my mate. The Fates also mated her with six others. The bitch with a hole in her stomach had a point. We are powerful men, but Wren didn’t do anything to make us notice her. We did that all on our own. And I swear to Kalista, if anyone talks to my little bird like that again, I’ll peel your skin off and feed it to you.”
My sweet, unique ruby had protected herself physically for the first time that I was aware of.
She was a goddess, and we were all lucky to have her.
“We could kill them,” Damien offered, running a hand through his hair. Alister let out a sigh. “We can’t just kill everyone.” “Why not? Wouldn’t it solve the problem?” Damien tilted his head.
“I can’t deny that seeing you stand up for what you want is attractive… but it also makes me want to punish you.” My pulse quickened under his gaze, and a raw need throbbed between my legs. “Punish her? Oh! I love to punish her. Can I watch? Can I help?” Damien stepped beside me and ran his nose down my neck as he inhaled.
Rhett’s cheeks turned pink as he stared at the spot between my breasts that held Damien’s mark. “He’s only soft with you.” “So are you.” Damien smirked at him.
He’s my…” Damien scratched his head for a moment before snapping his fingers. “Brother-mate!” Rhett slapped his forehead with his other hand and sighed.
“What did you do?” Rome asked. “I approached him very calmly and told him to stay away from my mate.” Damien’s tone turned innocent. “And how exactly did you convince him to do so?”
Damien’s parents looked at each other with a little smirk on the corner of their lips. “We taught you right.” So that was where Damien got his tendencies from.
Damien had Wren underneath him on top of his bed as soon as we walked through the fucking door.
“Do you like my room?” he purred the question as his shadows wrapped around her wrists and ankles, pinning her down. Her tank top rode up, showing the soft, delicate skin that made me want to run my fingertips over her. “I, ah, didn’t get to see it… but the bed’s comfy,”
“I should’ve killed the maids for doing that… not just cut out their tongues—” “You cut out their tongues?” Her voice rose an octave. “No, I didn’t.” I pouted.
“I love what you are,” she murmured, and my shadows throbbed as if they recognized her words.
“Damien, I love you—” I cupped her face and smashed my lips to hers, slipping my tongue in her mouth. I needed her. My soul was screaming to become one with her again.
“Let me finish what I was saying. I love you, and I love all of your scars. They signify who you are and what you’ve overcome. I’m so proud of you.” Hot tears slid down my cheeks, and I blinked a few times before realizing I was crying. A smile broke onto my lips. “You’ve overcome a lot, too.”
“We’re mates, Damien. You complete a part of my soul, and I want to do that for you, too.”
I pulled her closer and inhaled her scent. Wren was my safe place, and I loved her more than I could put into words.
He opened and closed his fists at his side before stepping inside. A dark red tail whipped the door shut from behind him as his toes met mine. Pheromones poured out of him and slid over my skin like the flow of electricity coursing through wires. My back arched, pushing my chest into his abdomen, and I tilted my head back to meet his heated gaze. “I—Rhett,” I moaned as another onslaught of pheromones seeped
“You didn’t read anything but your name?” His tail wrapped around my thigh, and his hands settled on my hips and pressed me into his body. My heart hammered in my chest as desire filled my mind like a static I didn’t want to stop. I couldn’t even focus on the words coming out of his mouth. I needed him. Badly. So badly. Little tears of frustration filled the corners of my eyes. “Please.” “Baby, I need you to answer me,” he murmured, slipping his fingers under the waistband of my skirt and digging them into my flesh. His fingers were like lightning bolts. I shook with need for him, needing to

“Aren’t you supposed to be a sex demon… incubus?” Realization clicked, and his brows darted up as his mouth parted open. After a few beats, a smirk spread over his lips. “Where did my innocent little arctic fox go?”
The end of his tail was pointed like an arrow, but it wasn’t sharp. Damien’s tail was forked, but Rhett’s looked almost like a larger tip of a— “Baby, if you don’t stop looking at me like that, I’m going to pin you to the bed and fuck you until you’re crying out for me to stop as pleasure possesses your body over and over again.”
He leaned back just enough for our lips to part. “If you couldn’t catch on, incubus, which is hilarious because this is supposed to be your expertise, our mate was seeking intimacy from you. It went completely over your head.” His eyes twinkled as he spoke to Rhett, not breaking eye contact with me. “You were?” Rhett asked, and he sounded surprised.
“Oh, my sweet, innocent little bird. Some could say it’s a form of torture.” A strangled gasp left my throat. “Don’t ever torture anyone else but me like this!”
“That squirrel is a pervert,” he told me and pointed toward Kian, who looked like he wanted to bury himself in a hole to hide. “Kian’s reactions to his familiar tell me that much.” Nightshade shook his head and looked up at me with pleading green eyes that reminded me of Kian’s. I frowned, snuggling him against my cheek. “Don’t be mean to him! You’re not a pervert, are you?” He shook his head and let out what sounded like a sob, and Kian choked on his spit before launching himself into a coughing fit.
“What did he say?” Lachlan asked, but Kian shook his head. “I couldn’t possibly repeat such filth in front of Wren!” “Oh, you little…” Lachlan went to grab Nightshade, but I waved my hand back and forth. “He’s just an innocent squirrel.” “He’s not innocent!” Lachlan and Kian exclaimed.
Kian came up and wrapped his arms around me. “I don’t think you quite understand how special you are.”
“Sweet ruby, are we—” “Bonded?” Her voice was muffled by my chest. “Yes.
that our mate’s power is to become incorporeal?”
“But becoming incorporeal is something—” “Never heard of?” Kian finished, adjusting his glasses. “My kind have tried many times to perfect a spell where one can become incorporeal, but the closest we’ve got is the enchantment of invisibility charms.”
Damien walked up and tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear before shoving his thumb into my mouth. “Stop chewing on your lip. You’re gonna make it bleed. It hasn’t healed yet from the burn.” I bit down on his thumb, and he dropped his head back with a low moan.
“First, I convinced you to enter a contract with me, and now you’re coming to the Ice Kingdom. Are you sure you’re ready for this step in our matebond?” I threw my head back with a laugh. “You’re not only my mate, but you were my best friend first. I’m more than ready to see your world.”
“Fuck. I’m totally going to steal those.” Damien’s shadows lurched forward, and they consumed the panties on the ground. “You’re giving those back to her,” Alister scolded him. “She gave you a set specifically for you not to steal that one.” “But it looks so good on her,” Damien whined, glancing back at Alister, who rolled his eyes. “What if I give her the other set back?” I turned around and glanced back. “Can one of you help me with this?” They both smirked before rushing forward, pushing at each other. “I bought it for her, so I should be able to take it off of her!” Alister shoved Damien.

“Do you want these?” Damien asked. I glanced over at Grayson’s eyes in the center of his palm. “Are you fucking serious?” Alister asked, and Kian shivered. “Why would she want those?” Rowan asked. “At least put them in a jar first,” Rhett muttered.
