“He’s intense.” Callie glanced up with her face completely reddened. “But you are very sweet together.”
“Yes. Just like that. Such a good girl.”
Kian kept his eyes covered with his hand and dropped to the ground, feeling for his glasses. “I swear, I don’t mean to be looking. I just don’t know where my glasses are. But maybe that’s a good thing because I can’t see without them.” He abandoned searching for his glasses and crawled out of the door. I could hear his ragged breathing as he made it just out of sight. “Tell me when it’s okay to come back in.”
“One thing you do all the time is brush your hair. It’s been that way since we met. I wanted to make sure I could provide you with healing even if I wasn’t there.” My eyes flooded with tears as I stuffed the brush back into my bag. “I love you.” “I’ve loved you forever.”
The war between the two races was bound to happen again, but I had hoped it wouldn’t be in my lifetime. No matter how selfish it was.
