I’ve enjoyed watching her and Dad spending time with him over the last few months. I hope he has a closer relationship with them than I did. They might not have graduated from their ‘how to be an attentive parent’ class, but they’ve excelled at grandparenting. Maybe they are trying to make up for their mistakes with me by being more attentive with Sonny. Many times, I’ve wondered if I should bring up my memories of my own distanced childhood with them, but I’m not sure what good it would do. They are here now and that’s what counts.
