People used to be skilled because skills were needed for survival. Now, people couldn’t do anything real for themselves. They still had an instinctual drive to feel accomplished, but they aimed it at worthless pursuits, like taking selfies, complaining about injustices on Twitter, or subscribing to the New Yorker. The modern world had gone to pure bullshit.
