“I told you that we were bound for all eternity, my darling. We were always going to find you. You’re our beating heart,” Kai tells me, the strength of his conviction flowing into me until I can stand a little taller.
I cannot deny her, now or ever. She owns me, body and pitch-black soul.
“You’re smart, beautiful, funny, and a wonderful person who isn’t afraid to take on four broken boys and make them into men.”
“That’s because you are a warrior queen, made to shed the blood of our enemies,” he tells me, a fierce pride in his tone as one hand comes up to stroke down the side of my face. “And you are perfect, Lilly Vanderbilt. Just right for us.” A shiver runs down my spine at his words, my inner demon preening at his praise and acceptance. After all, what better way to defeat the monsters that plague us than by becoming monstrous ourselves?
“I’m so fucking proud of you, Princess,” he says, pulling away slightly to look into her eyes. “You are incredible.”
Yeah, we are definitely more than what our fathers trained us to be. Life is not black or white, but a mixture of greys, and looking down at my brothers and our woman and newborn daughter, I know that they will help us to become what we were always meant to be.
“Clean up first, fuck him later,”
We're all together now, and my heart has never felt so full.
“I am honoured to walk my daughter down the aisle,” he answers, his voice thick with emotion and laugh lines etched into his face. “I never thought that I’d experience it.”
‘These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever. These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other. These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow,

“You were my light when there was only darkness, Sweetheart,” Kai begins, and my eyes stare into his honey brown ones, the image wavering at the edges with my unshed tears. “You showed me that there was something to hope for, that I could be loved. You are my soul, my heart, and my light.”
“I knew that you would change my life, our lives, from the first moment that you stepped out of that shower,” he tells me, his emerald eyes glowing in the sun. “I just never knew how much you would become a part of me. You are buried so deep inside, Pretty Girl, that if they were to cut me in half you would be there too, in every part of me.”
“You are mine, Baby Girl, and I am yours until we draw our last breaths on this cursed earth. And even then I’ll fucking hold your soul to ransom and I dare anyone to take it away from me.”
“You are the best part of me, Princess. You taught me how to love again, how to live again, how to breathe again. You arrived like a shooting star, burning all the bad that came your way and leaving only good. We were destined, it was written in the stars that we would be together, and I will never stop worshipping you, never stop thanking whatever god decided that I was worthy of you.”
“You all gave me love at a time when I’d lost everything. You gave me hope when I felt hopeless. You gave me back the parts of myself that I never knew were missing. You captured my heart, we are all bound together for eternity, and I never want to be released from your love.”
I can’t help but think that maybe, just maybe, it was all worth it. All the pain, all the uncertainty, all the heartache and trauma. Because all of that led me to them. To my Knights. To the other parts of my soul.
We have been released from our shackles and bound ourselves together, our hearts captured in a love so strong that it can never be broken.
