Drew and Liam watched me cautiously, but Lyndon gave a slow nod. “You must’ve gone through some really tough shit.” Cearra squinted angrily at her guildmate, then blew out a loud breath. “I want another throw. She distracted me.”
He’d lost everything and stopped caring about anyone except me. That’s what he’d told me, and I’d felt needed. I’d felt like someone irreplaceably important to him—until the moment I’d seen his other friends and realized I’d gotten it all wrong.
“What … was that?” I asked hoarsely. He leaned down, bringing our mouths close. His warm breath teased my lips. “Me needing you.”
“So,” Tori drawled, “you two are a thing?” “They’re definitely a thing,” Aaron said. “But what kind of thing?” Ezra wondered.
Her gaze flicked to the drifting bits of ice, then returned to me. A faint smile graced her lips. “Lead the way, Bladesong Druid.”
“Together,” I gasped as a deep, empty ache burned in my chest. “Or not at all.”
