“You’re going to ruin me,” he reiterates. I will. “I won’t.” At least not like he thinks. “You’re lying.” I am.
“Sweetheart, you carry your baggage like it’s the only belongings you got.”
“You think a kiss from you equals getting in a shark cage?” I question with a scoff. “Si,” he responds readily. Confidently.
“Goddamn, I’m still not dead yet?”
That’s not the type of cold that frosts your insides, it’s the type that blackens them.
“Can you, like, not make me cry right now, please? I’m trying to look like a badass.”
“Sawyer, svegliati,” the voice says more sternly. “I’m up,” I groan, flinching when I roll to my side. I release another long groan. “Fuck me up the nose, dude.” There’s a beat of silence, and then, “What?”
Lying was never the worst of my sins, just the first of them.

Sawyer’s mischievous grin widens. “Thanks for rescuing Senile Suzy. I’m not used to driving on the opposite side of the road, so maybe you can teach me,” she offers, and by the glint in her eye, I know damn well she’s doing it to get under my skin. It’s fucking working. “Not happening,” I growl, pinning her with my glare. “Careful, bella. I’m not afraid to murder him, too.” Unfazed, Troy winks at her, silently mouthing, “I’m gonna teach you so hard.”
