“I’ll walk through Hell for you, angel. You should know that by now,
“If you did know, I wouldn’t have to tell you that you’re the only woman who has ever owned any part of me. And it’s always been you, Sloane. For twelve fucking years, you’ve walked around with my soul clutched between the same fingers you wear Eric’s rings on. You’re the ghost I’ve been chasing. Now look me in the eyes and tell me you already knew that.”
There’s no denying Dom is different, mainly because he’s always the one sending me off the deep end, but also because in the weeks we’ve been together, he’s shown me he’s willing to jump off the cliff with me if talking me off the edge isn’t an option. He always gives me space to be angry and a little unreasonable.
Eric was my better half, but Dom is the mirror image of my soul.
“This is over.”
We pull back and look at each other. Her eyes shine with the kind of understanding that can only come from a woman who’s living with a broken heart as well. “Well,” she sighs. “I guess the bastards get to live another day.”
“You’re in therapy?”
“I’m trying to work through my mess, so I can be better for you.
“What is all of this? What are you doing?”
“Making it up to you.” “With a house?”
“I was never leaving you,
To restore me.
