Curious, I pulled out my dagger, and sliced my palm open. “Hanwen’s asshole, what are you doing?”
“You think I could ever forget?”
“I don’t. I don’t hate you anymore.”
“If I knew it was that simple, I would have kissed you sooner.”
“That’s why I talked to her about us. I knew she wasn’t invested in me, and telling her I was in love with her sister wouldn’t be an issue.”
“Friendship?” He laughed, dark and bitter. “Your skin tastes like spring, and your sighs are a gods damn song. I’m not your fucking friend.”
“It was to get rid of the taste of you. You’ve crawled into my veins, and nothing I have done has gotten rid of you.”
“You got harder, and I got softer.”
“I love your soft.” Another kiss. “You don’t have any idea how much I’ve fucking needed your soft.”
“I love you, Emmeline. I have loved you from the start, and I will love you until we are both just a whisper on the wind. It’s your eyes I see when I close mine, your heart I want to hold, and I’d set this whole damn world on fire if you wanted to watch it burn.”
The Beloved and the Accursed: two sides of one coin, Blessed by the gods, lives forever adjoined. Both touched by the light and the dark, With wrath’s caress and fecundity’s mark; Bloom, blood, and bone are the ties which bind The betrayer, body, and bane to their future descried. One will wrest peace from the grips of such blight, While the other will do naught but turn from the light; In each hand, they hold the death of another And the fate of the kingdoms bound by lovers.
