When you’re a child you’re born into the arms of other people. And other people are your family and you see them every day and every second there is someone close by to you that you can cry to or can hug, but then you grow up and only if you’re lucky do you have that with someone. It isn’t an easy thing to ask of a stranger. It isn’t easy to say to them: “Love me, be with me, hold me.” Only a small number of strangers in your life will ever care to know you, let alone to love you, and so now with how things were with Theo, it felt like she was back in a family again.
