I do know it was more than just a coincidence that I found this card on the darkest day of my life. I remember it like it was yesterday. A mouth full of blood, not all of it my own. Fresh finger-shaped bruises forming on my throat, and an ache between my thighs I didn’t ask for. I’d stumbled out of the Devil’s Coast Academy and into the parking lot. Got in my car and drove, until I could no longer see the school’s Gothic spires in my rear-view mirror.
