We stare at each other, the seconds feeling like minutes. I’m basking in every delicious moment of it, because it feels like we are standing on the edge of the cliff again. I can practically smell the smoke; taste the danger. Every nerve in body is buzzing with the desire to jump.
“So, uh. Where were you on Wednesday?” “Why? Did you miss me?” “Yes.”
“Don’t test me today, Aurora. I’ve spent nine years resisting temptation. You’re making it very hard for me to get to a decade.”
“Of course I care,” he growls, “I think I’ve made that very fucking clear.”
“Out of all my sins, you’re my favorite.”
“If I kiss you, it means I’m not sure if I’ll make it back to you.” He nips on my bottom lip, provoking a pathetic moan from me. “And I’m very fucking sure I’ll make it back, Magpie.”
“I stick by what I said,” he mutters. “And what was that?” I rasp back, sinking into the warmth of the bath. “You’re worth starting a war for.”
“I am not Alberto. You’re not really my captive, but you are mine. I need to keep you safe, but I’ll do my best to give you the world.”
“Shut up, Rory. He left his entire life in England and came back to Devil’s Dip for you. He’s so in love with you that it makes me sick.”
“When I say you’re mine, I mean you’re mine forever. No ifs, no buts. No changing your mind. Sure you want that?”
“What I want, is for you to be happy.”
“If you want to be mine, I’ll make you that happy, Rory.”
“I’ll show you what it looks like. Now, be a good girl and moan my name while I worship you.”
