At no point during his response did Hayes raise his voice or yell, but the effect was the same. His disappointment in the crude questions from the group shines through, and I feel secondhand shame for being a part of the scene. I stuff the shame down. I’m not going to let anyone make me feel bad about stuff no one told me about. No one’s forcing someone as powerful as him to be here. If he didn’t want to be asked these questions, he shouldn’t have stuck around.
