Seth tightened his jaw and gave me the most aggressive peace sign I had ever seen in my life.

“There isn’t a depth I won’t fall to for this,” she warned me, and I nodded. “Then I’m ready to fall at your side.”

Tory was heartbroken, Caleb too. I just hadn’t expected to see them here breaking together, finding something in their shattered pieces to clutch onto. And it was each other.

“Sorry, man,” the guy breathed, backing up a step and offering a peace sign which instantly froze my blood in my veins. “It’s fine,” Seth replied dismissively, the peace sign he gave him in return making a stone drop into my gut as I fought against any outward reaction.
