wish there were a way to explain exactly how I feel whenever I see my mother’s phone number pop up on my screen—“anger” doesn’t cover it. It’s more like a cocktail of rage, pain, frustration, and bitterness, all mixed together with the heartbreak that’s lingered over me like a thick fog ever since I was a kid.
