“You’re running from whatever that girl is making you feel and we’re not a distraction from that. You can find your own means of coping.”
“I’m glad you’re finally moving on, but it’ll end in disaster if you can’t be honest with yourself.”
“Because she’s spoiled and entitled.”
“Because you remember her when she was sick. Well, she’s not sick anymore. She hasn’t been for almost seven years. You gotta start letting her take responsibility for her actions.”
Unacceptable. I want her. So I must have her. It’s very simple.
That mouth of hers. Damn. There are so many better things those luscious lips could be used for. I imagine her lying flat on my desk, her legs bent over the edge and her skirt scrunched around her ankles. Her mouth would be open and gasping my name—
“And now you’re growling at me like you weren’t the one who came crawling into my inbox, asking me to take this position.”
“This doesn’t just apply to marriages but to all kinds of relationships. The connection between a manager and the employees is like a mirror. And what the workers are reflecting is telling me they’d rather be anywhere in the world than with you.”
“So why aren’t they here?” The head manager glares at me. “When I tried to bring them in, you kicked them out!” “Because I’m not the one who needs to collaborate with them.”
“You’re leading this place. Now, I don’t know all the answers, but that’s why we study. To learn.”
“Do you want her to prove herself or do you want her to fail?”
“You might not want to admit it, Alistair.” He arches an eyebrow. “But your brain is giving you away.” “It was just a dream.” “If it was just a dream, you wouldn’t be here.” His tone is hard.
“I believe, this is just a hunch, that you’re secretly hoping Miss Jones will save you.”
“You don’t have to be good at everything, but if you’re going to expose what went wrong yesterday, you could have started there.”
He’s the darkness, but his eyes are the sun.
“She slept with my boyfriend behind my back and then, two weeks later, I find out they’re getting married!”
Ezekiel shakes his head slowly. “That’s the thing, Miss Jones. He does.” A worried look crosses his face. “And I’m afraid it’s already in your possession.”
“I don’t know what this is, but I know it isn’t a mistake.
Alistair speaks in a low tone. “I don’t owe either of you an explanation as this is between myself and Miss Jones.” He scowls at Ezekiel. “But since I’d like to spare her the interrogation, the truth is that I want her and she’s trying her best to resist me.” My jaw drops. “That is the most you’ll get.” He narrows his eyes at Ezekiel. “Kindly refrain from commenting until Miss Jones is gone.”

“All the people who belong to me are perfect in every way.”
She says my name and I know I’m going to blow her mind all night long. I know I’m going to drag her straight to heaven and back. I know I’m going to hold on to her for the rest of my life.
“If you don’t want to talk, you don’t have to say anything,” I rasp. “But you belong here.” My tone hardens. “You belong next to me. Don’t hide your pain… because I want it. I made room for it. Okay?”
“Kenya, you decide what you allow and who you allow into your life. No one can force you to accept their bad behavior. If they care for you, if they love you, they’re going to show it. It’s not going to be a one-way street. And if it is, that’s not family. That’s a manipulator.”
And I’m more in love with her than I was before.”
But I also want you to know that I will burn the world down if it’ll keep you warm.
